There are 77 suspects in the investigation into the Campania procurement scandal that in recent months has led to the arrest, among others, of the powerful former regional councilor for tourism Pasquale Sommese (now under house arrest). The pool of prosecutors Alessandro D'Alessio, Maurizio Giordano, Luigi Landolfi, Catello Maresca, Gloria Sanseverino, under the coordination of the deputy prosecutor Giuseppe Borrelli, of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office have sent a request for an evidentiary incident to the investigating judge of Naples.

They want to hear the two informants of the investigation, namely Antonello Sommese (Pasquale's nephew) and Loredana Di Giovanni and therefore crystallise the accusations against the suspects who are answerable for criminal association aimed at diverting the path of tenders and influencing bids worth several hundred thousand euros for the restoration of monuments in Campania. The Prosecutor's Office explains in its request that: "The reasons for the relevance of the evidence to be taken directly concern the confessed existence of such an association, the identification of the individuals who compose it with the indication of the roles of each of them and the indication of the concrete operation of said association". After the five interrogations of Antonello Sommese filed in July, but also on the basis of top secret hearings of the same repentant politician, the Naples Prosecutor's Office aims to act quickly.

Before the first criminal section, the hearing against Guglielmo La Regina, believed to be the architect and director of the alleged system of rigged tenders, together with the defendant Marco Cascella, is set for September 19; instead, the first hearing of another immediate trial for about twenty defendants is expected on September 13, even if in this case the fifth criminal section will declare itself incompetent with respect to the matter dealt with (public administration crimes), in view of a transfer of the file before the first.

According to the accusations of Antonello Sommese but also of Di Giovanni, the La Regina group was able to influence the draws of university professors called to the tender commissions and was also able to influence the contracts.
