Scafati. Extortion carried out by members of the Ridosso-Loreto clan: second sentences arrive. The sentences handed down in the summary trial by the judges of the Salerno Court of Appeal in the Scafati clan trial have been essentially confirmed.
The largest sentence reduction was granted to Gennaro Ridosso, sentenced in the first instance to 8 years and 5 months. He will now serve 4 years and 10 months, four more than the amount requested by Attorney General Pierina Consoli during her closing argument. Alfonso Morello, sentenced in the first instance to XNUMX years and XNUMX months and deemed the cashier and collector of usury proceeds on behalf of the Loreto-Ridosso clan, was also given a ten-month prison sentence reduction. Morello was also sentenced to XNUMX years and XNUMX months. He was also found guilty of being a Camorra member.
Luigi Ridosso, sentenced to six years and 10 months in the first instance, was granted mitigating circumstances and sentenced to five years and two months. Romolo Ridosso, considered one of the instigators of the criminal organization operating between Scafati, Castellammare, and Pompeii, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison, compared to the four years and ten months sentence imposed in the first instance. The sentences handed down by Salerno preliminary hearing judge Emiliana Ascoli last January were upheld for all the others.
Among these is that of the municipal councilor of Castellammare di Stabia, Massimiliano De Iulio, elected in a civic list and suspended as a result of the three-year sentence received in the first instance. The same sentence had also been inflicted on the Stabia citizen Carmine Di Vuolo.
The six-year sentence was also confirmed for the collaborator of justice Alfonso Loreto. The Gup Ascoli had instead sent for trial before the Court of Nocera Inferiore, the other co-defendants in the trial: Salvatore Ridosso, Francesco Sorrentino alias 'o campagnuolo, Antonio Palma of Pompei, Michele Imparato of Boscoreale and Antonio Romano of Pompei.
All accused, to varying degrees, of criminal association, usury and extortion, for having been part of the clan operating in Scafati and the surrounding municipalities between 2007 and 2008.
In September 2015, the leaders of the Loreto-Ridosso gang were arrested, while their supporters later ended up on trial.
After the arrests, both Alfonso Loreto and Romolo Ridosso had decided to collaborate with justice, giving life to new lines of investigation, including that of the link between politicians and Camorristi that led to the dissolution of the municipal council of the Municipality of Scafati.
