The military of the Naval Station of Bari carried out a seizure of marijuana on board a fishing vessel docked in the port of Bisceglie.
In particular, late last Tuesday afternoon, during routine fuel checks, finance police inspected several vessels. On one, they found several packages containing marijuana. The five crew members, all Italian citizens residing in Bisceglie and Molfetta, were subjected to personal and house searches at their homes and at the headquarters of the shipping company in Bisceglie. Upon completion of the police investigation, the fishing vessel, a van, 112,5 kg of marijuana, €8.285 in cash, four precision electronic scales, three knives, and 44 .32-caliber cartridges were seized. The five crew members were arrested in the act. Since the beginning of 2017, approximately 30 tons of marijuana transported by sea have been seized, 38 traffickers have been arrested, and 23 vessels have been seized from criminal organizations by the Guardia di Finanza in Puglia. in the whole of 2016, again by the Apulian Guardia di Finanza, they had seized approximately 22 tons of it.
