Naples. “I had an affair with Maradona. I never said it, so as not to cause trouble. It was the early 90s, and Diego and I dated for a year and a half.” Carmen Di Pietro tells Spy, exclusively, a sensational scoop: her clandestine relationship, which lasted a year and a half, with Diego Armando Maradona, when he was the world’s best footballer and Naples’ idol. “One evening when I went to visit him in Naples,” Carmen Di Pietro recounted, “I was bathing in a hotel near the station. He arrived early, and I was still in the tub. So I put on a bathrobe and went to the door. I opened it while I was still soaking wet. ‘Can I continue washing you?’ he asked. So we went back to the tub. I remember Maradona once running away from training camp saying a relative of his was ill. ‘Of course I’m taking a risk,’ he told me. ‘I’m doing it for you.’” Back then, I was carefree, free, and he was an idol. I was completely in love, but I wasn't even thinking about marriage. I was so young. I was doing my first modeling auditions; it was the time when I slept on trains, so I couldn't even think about calling photographers." Maradona thus became the second Napoli football idol to have had a relationship with Carmen Di Pietro. In 1993, the showgirl began a passionate relationship with Daniel Fonseca, who was married at the time.
