Moderator: Angela Garofalo. (A special menu will be available for the evening, priced at twenty euros.)
Canapa is the third video clip by Tiempo Antico, released on Friday 8 December, one year after the very successful debut of Cadebè, their first album.
“The new video clip Canapa heralds the start of a second album in the planning stage – says Giovanni Sorvillo. I had this song in my head for a long time, then the time came and I wrote it. Canapa because it is a thread that ties, unites, this text with the previous ones like Terra Avvelenata and the others from the album Cadebè. My inspiration finds fertile ground in traditions, roots from which they try in every way to uproot us, poisoning it. The hemp that has fed so many families is an expression of the earth, my earth, fertile mother, to which we must be grateful and defend in every way.”
The sound of Tiempo Antico seals once again its own sound, a Mediterranean sound that does not look to the sea but draws from the interior, from the sounds of Terra di Lavoro and Terra dei Fuochi. From the immense expanses cultivated with hemp and tobacco, where peasant songs and traditions rose, whose origins are lost in the mists of time, come ancient feelings adorned with a proactive nostalgia.
The lyrics and music of Canapa are by Giovanni Sorvillo (vocals, tenor sax, acoustic guitar). With him the electric guitar of Salvatore Acerbo, the bass of Nicola Girardi, the drums of Giuseppe Vertaldi, the baritone sax of Mario Lupoli and synthesizer by Jennà Romano who, together with Sorvillo and Tiempo Antico, took care of the arrangements. The song was recorded and mixed at the Laboratori di Provincia by Jennà Romano who also took care of the artistic production. The mastering was done by Vittorio Remino at Loung Soul LAB STUDIO. The video was made by Carmine Giordano for the production of Vincenzo Perrotta.
