The second edition of the Festival delle Vigne Metropolitane di NAPOLI will conclude on Saturday 27 January 2018, from 10.30 to 14.30 at the Cellaio del Real Bosco di Capodimonte with a discussion on the theme of metropolitan vineyards and those of historical importance present in some real sites. The Festival aims to fill a gap in knowledge regarding the city of NAPLES, which is the second in Europe, after Vienna and before Paris, for hectares of vineyards in the municipal territory. In Europe, for years now, an exclusive circuit of metropolitan areas has been created that have been able to valorize this resource, such as Paris - with the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre, now in its 84th edition - and Turin - with the Vigna della Regina, born from the virtuous collaboration between the public (Superintendency of Piedmont) and the private (wine production company). The first edition promoted the existing vineyards between Posillipo, Agnano, Chiaiano, and Camaldoli, with excellent feedback from the public and industry professionals. With the second edition, the Festival's management team would like to shine a spotlight on what was undoubtedly one of our city's historic vineyards: the Real Vigna del Giardino dei Principi, located within the so-called Delizia Reale. Research carried out at the Botanical Garden Archives reveals that: "The Garden of the Princes, an integral part of the Royal Delight, housed fruit trees, citrus groves, a nursery and - to the south of the disorder, close to the walls - a large vineyard." Documentary evidence on this subject is scarce, due to the redevelopment of the area carried out in 1840 by Friedrich Dehnhardt, but is further confirmed by the contemporary existence of vineyards on the large estates and farms that occupied the Capodimonte area. For this reason, the Cellaio in the Real Bosco di Capodimonte will host the final day of the Festival on Saturday 27 January 2018. The conference, "The Recovery and Valorization of Historic Vineyards," will begin at 10.30:1996 a.m. Speakers will include Sylvain Bellenger, director of the Capodimonte Museum and Royal Woods; Nino Daniele, Councilor for Culture and Tourism for the City of Naples; Enrico Panini, Councilor for Economic Activities for the City of Naples; Piero Mastroberardino, who will illustrate the case history of the "Villa dei Misteri" wine, a project launched in XNUMX in collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendency of Pompeii; and Leonardo Ancona, director of the Carolino Aqueduct Park, who will explain the project to restore the cultivation and management of the ancient Bourbon vineyard known as "Vigna di San Silvestro" in the Royal Palace of Caserta. The meeting will be moderated by Tommaso Luongo of AIS NAPOLI and scientific director of the Festival delle Vigne Metropolitane of NAPLES. At 12.30:XNUMX pm, Professor Carmine Guarino, Professor of Systemic Botany at the University of Sannio - Department of Technological Sciences, will discuss "Botany and Agriculture in Royal Sites" together with Ivo Poggiani, President of the Third Municipality of Stella-San Carlo all'Arena of the City of Naples. Carmine Maturo, an expert in sustainable tourism, will lead attendees on a journey along the slopes of Collina Gentile, from Via Foria to Capodimonte. Throughout the day, accompanied by the Neapolitan posteggia of the MusiCapodimonte association of Aurora Giglio, it will be possible to taste the wines of the Vigne Metropolitane paired with local gastronomic products. Admission is free, but reservations are required, subject to availability. For information and reservations: tel. +39 320 7275544 e mail vignemetropolitanenapoli@gmail.com. The event is organized and promoted by the Arteteca cultural association, with the support of the Naples Chamber of Commerce and SI Impresa, a Special Agency of the Naples Chamber of Commerce, and in collaboration with Ravello Creative Lab, the Museum and Royal Wood of Capodimonte, the Municipality of Naples - Department of Culture and Tourism and the Department of Budget, Labor and Economic Activities, the Campi Flegrei a Tavola Association, the AIS Italian Sommelier Association - Naples Delegation, and IPSEOA G. Rossini - State Professional Institute for Food and Wine and Hotel Hospitality. Now in its second edition, the Festival delle Vigne Metropolitane of NAPLES kicked off last December 26th, in the courtyard of the Maschio Angioino in NAPLES, with the theatrical performance "Viv le Ruà. Women, knights, weapons, loves and... 25, 59 and 70" by Ciro Pellegrino and with Paola Maddalena, Ciro Pellegrino, Ciro Scherma, Giovanna Marziano, Carlo Riccardo and Olimpia Panariello. Throughout the month, guided tours of the cellars were offered to discover "Made in Partenope" wines and the metropolitan vineyards of NAPLES. Posillipo, Agnano, Vomero and Chiaiano are the areas most affected. Furthermore, the Naples area is one of the few areas in the world that, thanks to the volcanic conformation of the soil, preserves the "ungrafted" cultivation method, that is, without the use of the Virginia creeper as a rootstock for the cultivated variety. A rarity that, in recent years, has become increasingly appreciated by oenologists and wine lovers, because it is able to preserve the purity of the vines and the tradition of the cultivation method.
