Not a day goes by without television broadcasts, memory albums, or entire films shown on public and private channels.
Not a day goes by without a quote from his lines, without at least mentioning a few lines from Livella. Totò is therefore only physically dead, but otherwise he is a living presence. He died just over 50 years ago—on April 15, 1967—and was born on February 15, 1898: 120 years ago today. He said shortly before his death: "At my funeral it will be very beautiful because there will be words, big words, eulogies, they will discover me as a great actor: because this is a beautiful country, but in order to be recognized for something, you have to die." Today marks the 120th anniversary of his birth: an event that filled Naples with glory, smiles, and tears thanks to him, Prince De Curtis, aka Totò.
