"What happened in Sant'Angelo di Ischia, where a tourist died while waiting for an ambulance that was blocked by the barrier that delimits the pedestrian area, is very serious. We must ascertain all the responsibilities, one by one, and also verify whether the illness that struck the tourist was one that would have left no escape anyway because, if it were not so, those responsible should be investigated for manslaughter". Thus the regional councilor of the Greens, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, member of the Health Commission, for whom "it is absurd that the ambulance crew in service on the island does not have the key to access the pedestrian area of Sant'Angelo, as reported by Il Golfo (local newspaper, ed.)". “The fact that the pedestrian area, by order of the Municipality, is delimited by a barrier closed with a padlock is perplexing, but that an ambulance is then unable to get through, nor find the key to the padlock in a very short time, truly leaves one speechless,” adds Borrelli, reiterating that “this matter must be completely clarified, both out of respect for the dead tourist and his family and to avoid other similar tragedies, but also because those responsible must pay for the gross negligence that may have caused the death of a person.”
