Camorra in the Nocerino countryside, nearly two centuries of prison time requested for the 22 members of Pietro Desiderio's clan, who requested a fast-track trial. The highest sentence, naturally, was requested for boss Pietro Desiderio: 18 years. This was followed by 13 years for Antonio Desiderio; 8 years for Pietro Anastasio; 7 years for Angela Bonazzola; 9 years for Gianluca Bonazzola; 8 years and 6 months for Luigi Bove; 12 years for Gianbattista Coppola; 6 years for Luigi Coppola; 8 years and 6 months for Sisto Ferrara; 9 years for Alessandro Iannone; 7 years for Nicola Liguori; 6 years for Francesco Mandine; 3 years for Giuseppe Picarella; 6 years for Luigi Romano; 5 years for Alessio Ruggiero; 12 years for Rosario Scifo; 9 years for Vincenzo Senatore; 2 years for Giovanna Spista; Nine years for Ettore Vicidomini; 12 years for Biagio Villani; 15 years for Miclele Villani; and four years for Salvatore Torino. The investigation began in 2014, with evidence suggesting arson, beatings, gunshots, and intimidation of local merchants and business owners. This was aggravated by mafia methods and the forced hiring of some members of the clan. During the investigation, it was discovered that boss Desiderio, despite being under house arrest, continued to hold summits and organizational meetings with his loyalists in his own home. Furthermore, some of the suspects are accused of aiding and abetting the fugitive status of Vincenzo Senatore, a prominent figure in the former Nuova Famiglia of the Nocerino area. Pietro Desiderio, 38, was arrested last May for attempted extortion aggravated by mafia methods at a construction site in Mercato San Severino. On that occasion, Desiderio acted with the complicity of Emanuele Filiberto Arena.
The anti-mafia investigations have allowed them to discover Desiderio's network of connections also in the field of drug trafficking and dealing. The 38-year-old, of Pagan origins, according to investigators, was the head of a nascent criminal organization that was gaining dominance between the Irno Valley and the Agro nocerino sarnese.
