Rome. Carabinieri officers from the Cecchignola station arrested a 35-year-old Roman man on charges of receiving stolen goods and possession with intent to distribute narcotics. A 31-year-old from the province of Naples and a 42-year-old from L'Aquila were also charged with receiving stolen goods. While driving along Via Paolo Buzzi, Laurentino 38, the Carabinieri observed a suspicious exchange between the three men. Specifically, the 31-year-old and the 42-year-old were handing over some computer components to the 35-year-old Roman man before hastily leaving. The Carabinieri were able to arrest them immediately, and when pressed for explanations, the three men refused to provide details or the exact origin of the electronic devices involved in the exchange. Particularly suspicious of the 35-year-old's behavior, the Carabinieri decided to search his nearby home, where they found a cache of stolen goods of dubious origin: a computer stolen on March 19 from the social services offices of Rome's 2th District; a canvas bag containing cosmetics worth €300 stolen on March 14 from a beauty salon on Via Federico Vittore Nardelli; an immersion blender stolen on March 28 from a nursery school on Via Marotta; two televisions; a mountain bike; a tent and a two-burner camping stove; a metal suitcase containing hammers, screwdrivers, and various other materials; a microwave oven; an electric jigsaw; scuba gear; a fan heater; a compressor; a satellite navigation system; and a computer monitor. In the man's bedroom, the Carabinieri also found 30 doses of cocaine, two precision scales, and over €6.000 in cash. All the merchandise found was seized, and the Carabinieri are continuing their investigation to trace its origin. The arrested man was taken to Regina Coeli prison, where he is being held by the judicial authorities.
