Last February, the City Council chaired by Mayor Cosimo Ferraioli approved two resolutions that focused on hydrogeological risk and a program of interventions to recover natural areas and mitigate the risk after the forest fires of 2017. The Program Agreement signed with the Land Reclamation Consortium yesterday provides for the functional restoration of the Alveo S. Alfonso, interventions to mitigate the hydrogeological risk in the catchment area affected by the rapid mudflow and the catchments south of via Ponte Aiello and via Monte Taccaro, mitigation interventions in the areas affected by forest fires, acquisition of opinions for the identification of financing for the works.
We will therefore work on two fronts: the implementation of the planned interventions and the planning to obtain the available regional funding. A double line of action to address and mitigate the hydrogeological risk that affects our municipal territory.
The mayor states: “This administration has taken steps to lay the foundations for protecting our territory from the hydrogeological risks amplified by last summer's fires. The Program Agreement signed with the Land Reclamation Consortium provides for the planning of interventions to be carried out along the mountain riverbeds of our territory; a result that will allow us to operate in synergy with the entity responsible for the care of this type of natural or artificial works. We have already agreed with some sectors of the Campania Region on the interventions to be carried out, in collaboration with the Consortium, also on the Rio Sguazzatorio, regarding the debris to be removed, their chemical evaluation, the possibility of storing them in an area managed by the Campania Region in Scafati, where the final treatment of the debris would take place”.
