The Sixth Criminal Section of the Court of Cassation has definitively annulled, without remand, the order of the Court of Florence that had imposed a ban on Professor Manlio Ingrosso, a former professor of Tax Law and former president of the Faculty of Economics at Vanvitelli University, from practicing academic activity, thus declaring the original prohibition unlawful. The defense (lawyers Alfredo Guarino and Francesco Carotenuto) argued that there was no serious evidence of guilt regarding the alleged crimes and that Professor Ingrosso was not involved in them, as well as the original lack of precautionary measures. The measure was adopted in the context of the criminal proceedings pending before the Florence Public Prosecutor's Office regarding alleged irregularities in the conduct of the qualifying exams for university professors in tax law.
