A statement from the Campania Region states: "Italy, and particularly the southern regions, continue to experience high levels of female unemployment. Gender stereotypes and outdated cultural beliefs are at the root of this problem. Despite the government's implementation of numerous initiatives and regulations to discourage gender bias in hiring, employers still prefer to hire men over women. Campania is not immune to this phenomenon; it is, in fact, one of the regions with the highest levels of female unemployment. For this reason, the Campania Regional Council has implemented various measures to curb the problem." Campania Regional Councilor Chiara Marciani, responsible for Equal Opportunities, Training, and Youth Policies, has approved a €26 million funding initiative to incentivize female employment.
“These economic resources will be accompanied by various initiatives to facilitate the work-family relationship. These funds will be allocated to training and integration into the world of work,” it is emphasized. “About nineteen million euros – explains Councilor Marciani – go to female entrepreneurship; another four million for training and orientation courses for women, including individual ones. So if a woman looking for work has particular propensities for certain activities, she will be able to access funding from the Region to attend the courses.” “Another important thing – he concludes – for female businesses in difficulty we have provided assistance after the start-up phase of the company.” Both notices and the methods for participating will soon be published on the Campania Region website.
