“With Notte d'Arte – Sorrento by night between art and museums we are experimenting with a new synergy between cultural institutions and associations in our city,” explains Mayor Giuseppe Cuomo. “This is a new initiative that will feature the entire Sorrento area.” “For the first time we are bringing together entertainment and culture,” adds Gaetano Milano, CEO of the Sorrento Foundation. “An innovative proposal that can represent added value for the city.” Among the institutions involved is also the Museo Correale di Terranova, which for one evening will be completely open to the people of Sorrento and tourists. “For the occasion,” emphasizes President Gaetano Mauro, “we have teamed up with associations operating in the area such as the Rotary Club and Le Amiche del Museo Correale, which help to organize the events scheduled at our facility. I would like to point out that, while the museum will remain open and can be visited for free until late at night, the event organized for Notte d'Arte is by invitation only and the proceeds from the ticket price will go towards the restoration of a painting kept at the museum.” “We too have decided to give our contribution,” says Antonino Terminiello, president of Pro Loco Sorrento, “and for the evening we have organized classical concerts in various locations and will keep the craft exhibition open at Bastione Parsano until late at night.” “The goal of the event is to open up to a new frontier of tourism,” says Massimo Coppola, councilor for Territorial Marketing for the Municipality of Sorrento. “An innovative format that brings together culture and entertainment without weighing on municipal coffers and that is aimed at both our fellow citizens and guests.” Also speaking at the press conference were Michele Liccardi, president of the Rotary Club Sorrento, Leone Cappiello, founder of the Syart Gallery, actor Marco Palmieri and publisher Alessandro Polidoro, who, together with the Netnapoli association, organized Libri sotto le stelle, who defined the effort shown in bringing together culture and entertainment as a “great proposal of civilization.” In conclusion, the artistic director Luigi De Simone announces: “We aim to create an event that can be repeated over the years, becoming an event that unites the entire territory, from associations to traders”.
