Purpose of the conference: A short communication for the press and mass media.
The conference in question, detailed above, intends to promote correct information on the UFO phenomenon both for public opinion and for the mass media responsible for this purpose. The speakers, and for them theNational UFO Centre> that they represent, intend to demonstrate how the UFO phenomenon is not at all a matter to be ignored or ridiculed, as often happens in the press or on television talk shows but, on the contrary, as happens in many other countries including neighboring France with its "Study and Information Group on Unidentified Aero-Space Phenomena" -GEIPAN- (organ of the CNES-National Center for Space Studies), that of UFOs or OVNI is a phenomenon to be studied and analyzed not only from a purely scientific point of view but, given its multiple implications on the thought and development of human civilization as a whole, also from a historical, political, social and religious one. The UFO phenomenon, in fact, or rather a percentage of 5-10% of the total reported cases, manifests itself all over the planet Earth, and for its many peculiar aspects it is intelligent, material and hyper-technological, which leads to favoring, among the various explanatory hypotheses so far advanced by numerous scholars from all over the world, that of the manifest presence - around and on Earth - of "extraterrestrial visitors" in the broadest sense that this term implies. Therefore, only by deepening the study of all its aspects and implications, will it be possible to know, or rather, finally have a confirmation from the various governments - first and foremost from those of the major nuclear powers - of its intelligent alien nature and its intentions towards the human species. Science, “true science,” is not made up of “judgments” issued on the basis of “beliefs or pseudo-certainties” deriving from a dull anthropocentric thought and/or servile compliance with the established power, attitudes -these- still rooted and widespread among the exponents of the so-called university and academic “intelligentsia” as well as intellectuals in general. The so-called “scientific method” in fact, at least in theory, starts from the observation and/or observation of a phenomenon and then arrives, after a more or less long study and in-depth analysis, even of a comparative type, to formulate a theory -as comprehensive as possible of its various aspects and peculiarities- on its nature and purpose. It should not be forgotten that, from the in-depth analysis - by courageous researchers and scholars and with "heretical" thinking - of phenomena that were little known or deliberately ignored because they were "improbable", outside the schemes of the "cognitive certainties" of the time and therefore considered "impossible" (see the Copernican theory, meteorites, bacteria, electricity, etc.), the discovery of new principles of the physical and/or natural world has almost always resulted, which then turned out to be of great scientific value and of enormous impact on technological development in the civil sphere for the whole of humanity.
All this should give pause to scientists who operate in the name of that principle which, as the British philosopher affirmed, Herbert Spencer (Derby, 27th April 1820 - Brighton, 8th December 1903), "hinders any information and adduced as evidence against any argument – branded as 'unlikely' we add – from official and academic science, keeps man in eternal ignorance”: “CONTEMPT BEFORE INVESTIGATION”.
