Five convictions were handed down by preliminary hearing judge Alessandra Ferrigno of the Naples court against as many members of the so-called "splitter" group of the Case Nuove of the Mazzarella clan: Salvatore Sembianza (defended by criminal lawyers Francesco Buonaiuto and Diego Pedicini) was sentenced to 14 years and eight months for the murder of Pasquale Grimaldi, nephew of the Soccavo clan leader, Ciro known as 'o settirò, on 19 June 2006 and for the attempted murder of Enrico Esposito: for Sembianza the aggravating circumstance of premeditation was excluded and the mitigating circumstances were considered to prevail over the aggravating ones; the preliminary hearing judge also sentenced the repentant Savior May to 12 years for the Grimaldi murder and the attempted murder of Esposito, and to a 5-year sentence for Camorra association; Gennaro Catapano was sentenced to 16 years in prison; Raffaele Micillo and Domenico Di Perna were sentenced to ten years in prison for the attempted murder of Persico. The “Scissionisti” group led by Salvatore Maggio was arrested last July by the Naples mobile squad, only Salvatore Sembianza on that occasion had managed to escape capture, but was arrested in September in a B&B in via Nuova Poggioreale. To frame in a particular way May and Sembianza were the statements of the former boss of the Puccinelli clan, now repentant Davide Leone: "Salvatore Sembianza was driving the vehicle while Salvatore Maggio was the material executor of the murder of Pasquale Grimaldi. From my balcony I saw Sembianza and Maggio on the scooter arrive a few meters from the Audi A3 owned by Enrico Esposito "Palletta" with Pasquale Grimaldi at the wheel. Maggio then told me that when the vehicle was at the height of the rear door, he fired a shot towards the passenger side headrest, hitting the driver. I believe that Grimaldi died instantly because the car continued on its way and ended up against the sidewalk and then against a wall. Maggio then approached the stopped Audi and shot at the height of the right front window, finishing off Grimaldi. He emptied the entire magazine also shooting at Esposito, who ducked and was hit in the back. Then Maggio took the other gun, held by Salvatore Sembianza, which however jammed and so Enrico “Palletta” managed to escape on foot. Then Maggio and Sembianza left and returned to Case Nuove: Sembianza on the scooter and Maggio in a taxi”. Errico Autiero also spoke about the murder of Pasquale Grimaldi and the wounding of Enrico Esposito in the interrogation of 29 July 2015. “Savio (Salvatore Sembianza, ed.) told me that Salvatore Maggio sent him to the Traiano district to his relatives (he is related to Davide Leone, ed.) to collect the week. But “Savio” confided in me that he feared an ambush and when I asked him why he was so afraid, he told me that together with Maggio they had killed Pasquale Grimaldi on Davide Leone’s orders”. For this episode last July Gennaro Catapano, Domenico Di Perna and Raffaele Micillo were arrested by the mobile squad, while the order to Salvatore Maggio was notified in prison. A month later came the decision to repent. Today the first degree sentence against the five.
