"With a €3,5 million loan, the Campania Region has committed to reclaiming the Eav warehouse in Ponticelli, removing the asbestos panels covering the structure and replacing them with a photovoltaic system. In response to a question from us last April, the person in charge of the works had given assurances that safety measures would be respected to protect the over one hundred Eav employees who have continued to work in the warehouse in recent months, despite the delicate and dangerous nature of the work in progress. For two days, the workers have been at a standstill due to dust falling from the tie rods in the workshop, caused by the impacts of the iron frames during the assembly phases of the scaffolding. This work was inexplicably carried out not by the specialized company charged with carrying out the reclamation, but by a third-party company that has neither the requirements nor the necessary equipment for the treatment of asbestos. An operation that even today caused suspicious dust to fall, alarming the employees who, rightly, refuse to return to the workshop". This is what the regional councilors of the 5 Star Movement Maria Muscarà and Luigi Cirillo denounce.

"Despite the guarantees given by Eav management, regarding constant monitoring that should have involved the same competent ASL, the workers are not aware that there has been any control since the opening of the construction site. Nor, at present, have the concerns of the workers themselves been met, who have been repeatedly invited by management in these hours to resume activities, even though dust continues to fall on their heads. The ASL itself, questioned by the workers' representatives, has made it known that the issue is not within its jurisdiction, but to instruct the Carabinieri of the environmental unit. As the 5 Star Movement, we will continue to support the battle of the employees of the Eav workshop in Ponticelli, involving the issue in the Regional Council, through an agenda that we will bring to the chamber on 25 June, on the occasion of the next session of the assembly".
