Alex Meret, 21, is the second signing under the new Neapolitan era. After Simone Verdi, Carlo Ancelotti has secured the goalkeeper for the next decade. The agreement between Napoli and Udinese – as reported in today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport – was reached yesterday following a telephone conversation between Aurelio De Laurentiis and the owner of the Friulian club, Giampaolo Pozzo. The deal was concluded for €25 million plus €10 million in bonuses, and the other goalkeeper, Orestis Karnezis, who turns 33 next July, was also included in the deal, potentially acting as his twelfth-choice goalkeeper.
