The conditions are stable but serious. The prognosis remains confidential. This is the latest bulletin from the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno regarding the conditions of Giampiero Delli Bovi, the 29-year-old lawyer who was seriously injured in the explosion of a parcel bomb last Monday in Montecorvino Rovella, in the Salerno area. President of the Youth Forum of the Alto Picentino municipality, Delli Bovi lost both hands following the explosion of the device. The investigations coordinated by the prosecutor of the Salerno prosecutor's office, Katia Cardillo, and delegated to the Carabinieri, meanwhile, continue vigorously. Investigators are pursuing every lead, from those related to the professional environment to the personal one and, specifically, that of resentment. Whoever left the package stuffed with explosives assembled in a shipping box in front of the gate of number 155 of via Fratelli Rosselli, in the Macchia district, premeditated the act to cause serious damage. The young civilian could have been fatally injured. The amount of explosives is not yet clear, but it appears to have been around one kilo. The puzzle of how the device was made has been entrusted to the Scientific Investigations Group of the Carabinieri of Rome, to whom the findings have already been delivered and, according to the prosecutor of Salerno, Corrado Lembo, "the appropriate requests have been made to have the outcome of the ballistic investigations as quickly as possible". The head of the prosecutors, this morning on the sidelines of a press conference in his office, defined what happened as "serious". The utmost secrecy is maintained but Lembo underlined that “immediate investigations have already been ordered on the traces of the crime, and precisely on the gunpowder and the trigger mechanisms. From this too, we could take some important indications. Of course, all the traditional investigations have already been activated." For the provincial commander of the military of the Salerno Arma, Antonino Neosi, "the investigations are complex. We need to collect all the testimonies, all the images from the video surveillance systems because only in this way can we begin to try to shed light on what happened". Neosi then added that "such a serious fact necessarily needs an explanation and therefore, for this very reason, it is not correct to advance hypotheses a priori. To understand why this happened, someone who saw it has to tell us. This is crucial. We will still need a few days but the best possible device has been put on the pitch." According to the former national Anti-Mafia prosecutor, Franco Roberti, now councilor for Security of the Campania Region, "the already dramatic situation has been aggravated precisely by the fact that the investigations are made more complicated by the lack of a video surveillance system". Roberti then added: “I would like to express my solidarity with the lawyer Giampiero Delli Bovi and his family for what happened. I hope that Montecorvino can equip itself with this video surveillance system. Urgent action is needed to support the efforts of the Municipality and local authorities to build these facilities, which I hope will help prevent further criminal activity."
