“Nothing understood. If you're a woman, you have to pay us. You have to give at least 200 euros a week to Tommaso 'o chirichiello”, for the families of prisoners. Otherwise you'll go to Brusciano". And then they moved from words to action, when in October 2017, the victim, a street vendor who had missed his weekly protection money payment, was beaten to death in the street with kicks and punches by emissaries of the boss Tommaso Rega. This is also part of the Carabinieri's anti-racketeering operation in Brusciano. The precautionary custody measure issued by the investigating judge of Naples, in addition to the boss Tommaso Rega, was notified in prison to Nicola Vallefuoco, 32 years old, son of the more famous Francesco, considered by investigators to be the head of the fearsome Vallefuoco clan linked to the Casalesi and operating in Emilia Romagna until its dismantling, and to 28 year old Giovanni Rega, nephew of the boss and known as o 'chirichiello. In handcuffs yesterday morning were Tommaso Di Maio, alias “Vallanzasca”, a 48-year-old from Brusciano, considered by investigators to be the boss's right-hand man; Vincenzo Turboli, alias “'o sabttell”, a 38-year-old from Brusciano, considered according to the prosecution's hypothesis to be a trusted man of the boss and finally 43-year-old Maurizio Castellano, a follower. Those arrested must answer, to varying degrees, for attempted extortion, extortion and personal injury, crimes aggravated by mafia methods and purposes. During the investigations, the military of the Arma would have collected elements of responsibility against the suspects for the extortion requests advanced for years by the gang to entrepreneurs and traders in the area, and reconstructed the motive and method of the attack on one of the victims. Traders and small entrepreneurs, mostly from Brusciano but also residents in neighboring municipalities: a series of victims to be blackmailed with periodic visits to their homes or businesses, requests for money with threats that were sometimes veiled and other times much more direct, brought out when it was a question of getting even the most rebellious to cough up the protection money. And those who just didn't want to pay could end up being beaten extremely violently: a way to convince them to get used to the system imposed by the clan. But the florist was certainly not the only victim of the Brusciano racketeering lords. Even a relative of a local municipal administrator had ended up in the clutches of the clan. This time, Turboli and Castellano had gone to the construction site to remind the entrepreneur that if he wanted to continue working in peace, he had to pay. But the historical victim, a real "ATM" for the extortionists, always according to the accusation hypothesis - was an entrepreneur from Marigliano, owner of several slot machine halls and other businesses, who for years had been forced to pay hundreds of thousands of euros into the clan's coffers (and also into those of opposing clans). Of a good 500 euros, one of the last bribes that were supposedly delivered by the man into the hands of Di Maio and Giovanni Rega. Until, exhausted, he decided to report everything to the police. Last May, four members of the Capasso-Castaldo group from Marigliano had already ended up in prison: Giovanni Castaldo, known as 'o luongo, and Rosario Castaldo; Luigi and Salvatore Esposito, uncle and nephew, one known as o'sciamarro and the other o' sciamarriello. But there are also the statements of some informants who have shed light on the Camorra scenario in Brusciano and the surrounding area and who have told of the clash with the “splitter” group of the gang. The clash arose from the control of drug dealing areas but also from the division of the proceeds of the racket in the area, so much so that these "splitters" tried to oust Rega. In December 2016, there was in fact an ambush in the city centre and in broad daylight it started the feud. A commando of killers opened fire from a moving car at Vincenzo Turboli, who according to investigators was a trusted man of the alleged boss, but who remained almost unharmed. Numerous shootings, shootings and bombs followed, two of which were aimed at the alleged boss and his brother Giancarlo. Shots were also fired at the home of Tommaso Di Maio, the killers - always according to the prosecution's hypothesis - would have shot from the windows of the house where the little daughter of "Vallanzasca" was also located. In one of the last shootings, the killers, whose target was once again Turboli who was near a tobacconist's, seriously wounded an innocent man. Nicola Vallefuoco was arrested for a suspended sentence for robbery, assault and other charges. And now yesterday morning's arrests have put an end, for the time being, to the Rega clan's domination.
