Solidarity with the Simav workers, who have been on the roof of the company's offices in Pomigliano d'Arco for days, was also expressed today by the Bishop of Acerra, Monsignor Antonio Di Donna, who called for "the dismissals to be withdrawn." The prelate, expressing his sympathy for the workers, who have been facing dismissal proceedings following the outsourcing of their work, noted that among those laid off is a mother who recently returned from leave following the death of her 13-year-old son. The bishop accompanied her and her family through the long ordeal. Finally, Monsignor Di Donna called for the dismissal proceedings, which also affect five workers at the Rome office, to be withdrawn, and called on "all parties involved, particularly the Siram/Simav company and Leonardo (formerly Finmeccanica) suppliers, to create the conditions to prevent the dismissals."
