Marano. Attilio Cesarano, a leading member of the Polverino clan, has been released from prison due to the expiration of his prison term. The decision was made by the Fifth Section of the Naples Court of Appeal, which granted the request made by his lawyers Luca Gili and Stefano Sorrentino. Cesarano was under house arrest in Terracina with an electronic bracelet. He was arrested in 2009 along with his relative Alfonso Cesarano and Patrizio Macrì. He was sentenced to 14 years for criminal association and racketeering, a sentence later reduced to 12 on appeal. Cesarano is a well-known figure in the municipalities north of Naples: he was the president of the Puteolana football team and a lover of racehorses. He had his own stable of ten horses, which were seized upon his arrest, along with a fleet of luxury cars. He is considered the kingpin of funeral homes in the province of Naples, particularly active in the municipalities of Marano and Calvizzano.
