Summer has arrived and with it the heat and the risk of fires. The Mayor of Mariglianella, Felice Di Maiolo, last June 12, issued Ordinance no. 30, as the Municipal Civil Protection Authority, in compliance with law no. 225 of 1992, for the fire risk arriving with the summer season. The areas of attention, uncultivated, abandoned, neglected lands, both inside and outside the urban perimeter of the town, with a high risk of fires could damage public and private safety and the integrity of the goods exposed to any flames that could also develop autonomously due to the high temperatures.
From 15 June to 30 September 2018, the practices at risk of fires subject to prohibition are those carried out in the vicinity of agricultural and/or bushy lands, gardens and/or parks, along the Municipal and Provincial Roads, falling within the territory of Mariglianella.
In the Ordinance n. 30/2018 of the Mayor Di Maiolo, these practices are specified as follows: lighting fires; detonating mines; using open flame or electric devices to cut metals or other; using incinerator stoves that produce sparks in woods and bushy lands; carrying out any other operation that may create an immediate fire hazard in green areas and in areas affected by the presence of bushes, dry grass, stubble, etc.; burning stubble, herbaceous material and brushwood; carrying out any other operation that may create an immediate fire hazard; using fireworks, on the occasion of celebrations and solemnities, in areas other than those specifically identified and in any case without prior authorization from the competent bodies.
Offenders will be subject to a system of sanctions as follows:
1. Pecuniary sanction pursuant to art. 29 of the current Highway Code, in the event of failure to cut grass on uncultivated areas affecting public transit road fronts and areas subject to public passage.
2. A fine of between 25,00 and 500,00 Euros in the event of failure to weed in uncultivated areas in general and/or careless accumulation of weeded undergrowth.
3. Administrative sanction of not less than Euro 1.032,00 and not more than Euro 10.329,00, pursuant to Article 10 of Law no. 353 of 21 November 2000. If the violations involve criminal sanctions, a report to the Judicial Authority is triggered.
The Law Enforcement and the Municipal Police of Mariglianella coordinated by the Commander, Lieutenant Andrea Mandanici, are responsible for the execution of the aforementioned Mayoral Ordinance.
Mayor Felice Di Maiolo stated that “every practice at risk of fires must be avoided, every element removed and every condition eliminated that could create an occasion of danger for public safety and hygiene. Violators will be adequately sanctioned. Those responsible for actions that cause or could trigger fires will be subject to the expected administrative sanctions that can reach up to 10.000 Euros. Just to guarantee a peaceful summer for the entire Community of Mariglianella. I thank the citizens for the sensitivity and foresight that they will be able to ensure”.
