MUGNANO – Widespread checks along the outer ring road: fines and seizures. Yesterday, municipal police officers, at the urging of the Sarnataro administration, conducted a crackdown on illegal trading near the Mugnano-Giugliano and Mugnano-Melito roundabouts. During the operations, the police seized over 70 kilos of fruit and vegetables and imposed fines totaling €15. "Yesterday's operation," explains Councilor Vincenzo Massarelli, "is not a one-off inspection. In fact, we have long been planning a series of systematic checks throughout the municipality to crack down on illegal trading, which harms all those who have a legitimate business and pay the relevant taxes. This unfair and illicit competition can no longer be tolerated." The seized goods were donated to needy families in the city. "As a Municipality," Mayor Luigi Sarnataro stated, "a few months ago, we signed a protocol at the Prefecture to ensure that the main roads owned by the Metropolitan City, but located within our territory, would be monitored by our traffic police, thus combating illegal activities. To achieve this goal, yesterday morning I also signed the Security Pact, which will allow us to implement the municipal video surveillance system with national funding. In other words, in Mugnano, being clever no longer benefits anyone."
