Naples. “The only public green lung available to the over 48 thousand inhabitants who populate the Vomero neighborhood, Villa Floridiana with the Duca di Martina museum, today instead of closing at 19:00 pm, as usually happens during the summer period, will close at 16:15 pm, as announced by the notices, signed by the management, posted this morning at the entrances of both Via Cimarosa and Via Aniello Falcone.” The news was given by Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari, who has always been attentive to the vicissitudes of the Vomero park. “The laconic reason that can be read on these notices is: “Due to a lack of security personnel” – underlines Capodanno -. From what little we have been able to learn on site, some people who should take up service in the afternoon shift are missing and hence the decision to close the public park in one to the museum, almost three hours earlier than usual. "So - Capodanno points out -, as last Saturday, and also the following day, the Central funicular was closed, from 14:30 pm until the end of service, due to the lack of personnel for the rest of the day, today it is the turn of the Vomerese public park to close earlier, for a similar reason, namely the lack of security personnel. So, paradoxically, in a city like the capital of Naples, where there is one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, public goods, facilities and services are closed either due to a lack of staff or because there are not enough employees, for that specific service, to replace those who are absent due to illness or other legitimate reasons. ”However, that there are problems with the closing times of the Villa Floridiana – adds Capodanno – would also be evidenced by a notice read on a barrier that delimits an occupied home, located inside the villa – adds Capodanno -. This notice invites visitors to the park not to knock on the door of this house, but to contact the museum staff to leave, which suggests that it may have happened that someone was locked inside the park, after closing time, and that, to have the gate opened, they knocked on the door of this house. Which, incidentally, could also happen today to people who, convinced that the villa closes at 19:00 pm, as usually happens, not having read the notice, would not go to the exit by the time indicated on the notice itself, that is, by 16:15 pm "." On this occasion - continues Capodanno - it should also be underlined that the important public park of Vomero continues to have numerous areas cordoned off and, consequently, inaccessible to visitors. Furthermore, along the avenues there are still several notices posted, always signed by the management, which invite people, many accompanied children and elderly people, to "pay attention to the potholes", due to the numerous unevenness that can be observed in the pavement. A historic garden, that of the Floridiana, for which numerous voices have been raised for years, unfortunately unheard, asking the competent authorities for greater attention and greater public investment to restore it to its former splendor, making it fully and appropriately accessible to the numerous users, many of them foreigners, attracted by the presence of the splendid and unique ceramic exhibitions, present in the Duca di Martina museum.
