Naples. Carabinieri discover a Camorra arsenal hidden in a car parked among others. Weapons of war and big-game hunting seized. A veritable arsenal was seized from the Camorra during searches in the "Miano" neighborhood, where the Lo Russo Camorra clan exercises control over illicit businesses. Inside a car parked among others, near a public housing development, Carabinieri from the Naples Vomero branch found and seized three Kalashnikovs, a pump-action shotgun stolen from a residence, two submachine guns, a stolen .44-caliber carbine, and 464 rounds of ammunition, including for weapons of other calibers. The arsenal had been hidden in the space under the rear seats of what at first glance appeared to be an abandoned Lancia "Y," but which had actually been converted into a hiding place from which weapons could be quickly removed if necessary. During searches of several blocks of buildings, conducted with the support of the fire department, iron doors and illegal gates were removed. In addition to one of these, in the home where a couple ran a convenience store, 3756 packs of contraband cigarettes were seized, which they had been selling under the counter. The couple, already known to law enforcement, were arrested and await a summary trial. Ballistic tests will be performed on the weapons to determine whether they were used in acts of violence or intimidation.
