Tomorrow Naples will be crowned European capital of ice cream. The ribbon cutting for the event called “Naples celebrates the Europe of artisanal ice cream” will take place tomorrow at the Hotel Continental at 1700:2018 p.m., where representatives of seven participating states will be present, as well as the highest civil, religious and military authorities. The European world of artisanal ice cream will gather because 20 is a very important year for three major anniversaries: the thirtieth anniversary of Artglace (Confédération des Associations des Artisans Glaciers de la Communauté Européenne), the 20th anniversary of the GA (National Committee for the Defense and Diffusion of Artisanal and Own-Produced Ice Cream) and the XNUMXth anniversary of the Comitato Gelatieri Campani. The proceedings will be moderated by Gabriele Blair, actor and presenter. The initiatives promoted over the years will be remembered, the value of artisanal ice cream as a European excellence in the agri-food sector and the people who have distinguished themselves over the years will be awarded. A dinner will follow in order to convivially share an important moment for the sector.
“Among fresh dairy products – reports Ferdinando Buonocore, President of the Campania Ice Cream Makers Committee – artisanal ice cream represents excellence in terms of quality and food safety, which enhances the agri-food products of each individual member state”.
The only “Day” that the European Parliament has so far dedicated to a food is precisely that of artisanal ice cream. It must be strongly reiterated – Buonocore continues – that the “European Artisanal Ice Cream Day” is the heritage of all ice cream makers and the entire supply chain and a commemorative stamp has also been dedicated to it, which is particularly sought after by great philatelic collectors”. In fact, on 5 July 2012, the European Parliament established the “European Artisanal Ice Cream Day” to be celebrated throughout Europe on 24 March each year. The official flavour of the sixth “European Artisanal Ice Cream Day” called “German Black Forest” was dedicated to Germany and is made of chocolate variegated with black cherries. For the occasion, alongside the “artists” of gelato, we want to celebrate those who are its “messengers”, men and women who, in an era in which surrogates and packaged products are popular, are witnesses of what real “gelato” is, the product of research and love by skilled and expert artisans. For the occasion, the gold pins for career achievement will be awarded, the “Messenger of Gelato 2018” Award, recognition for those who have shown “Friendship” to the three committees over the years; the “Angel of Gelato” Award is dedicated to all the students of the hotel institutes of Campania and Sicily who have offered their collaboration.
