A 7-month-old baby girl died yesterday morning in Milan after swallowing a small cork. The little girl was immediately taken to the Buzzi hospital, in the northwest area of the city, but there was nothing that could be done. The Milan prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy and the prosecutor on duty Maurizio Ascione opened a case for manslaughter.
According to what has been reconstructed at the moment, the little girl, who had her brother of a few years old nearby, yesterday morning around 7 took a perfume cap and put it in her mouth and this caused her to suffocate. Now the investigators will have to verify whether there was negligence in the custody of their child by the parents, who were at home but who did not realize that the little girl had taken hold of and swallowed the cap.
The prosecutor will also have to make an entry in the register of suspects of the couple as a guarantee, as a necessary act, to carry out all the necessary investigations.
