The Carabinieri stationed at the Pompeii excavations have charged 37 administrative violations to street vendors, parking attendants, guides, and travel agencies. Twenty-six street vendors were illegally occupying public land, and four also employed illegal workers. Two illegal parking attendants were caught soliciting tourists to direct them to private parking areas: the officers fined them and removed them pursuant to the provisions of the Minniti decree. Five tour guides found inside the archaeological site without the required regional license were also fined, as were two travel agencies that employed their services.
