Qualiano. "Bullets are raining down on the election campaign. Last night I witnessed and was involved in an incident of unprecedented gravity that could have turned what was supposed to be a festive evening into a tragedy. It's a miracle that yet another innocent victim of the Camorra didn't escape, and this time I could have been the one in the middle. I don't wish anyone to see a gun pointed at them and hear the shots go off." This was reported by Angelo Ferrillo, president of the "La Terra dei Fuochi" association and candidate for the center-right coalition in Qualiano, where shots were fired last night about 200 meters from the square where a rally was taking place. Ferrillo also filed a complaint with the Carabinieri stating that he wasn't at the rally but in the area where the shooting occurred. "I appeal to Interior Minister Matteo Salvini to come here as soon as possible. It's a miracle that yet another innocent victim of the Camorra hasn't escaped," he concludes.

"I firmly condemn the brutal violence and the unscrupulous act committed yesterday evening during our closing rally of the electoral campaign, I address to the leaders of our institutions the requests for legality and security that all citizens are asking for in these hours, having learned of the facts from the press and information media". Thus on Facebook the candidate for mayor of Qualiano of the civic lists and of the center-right, Raffaele de Leonardis, regarding the shooting that occurred yesterday evening during his rally. "Our territory wants to live in freedom and serenity. I hope that the investigations of the carabinieri discover the motive and that the police themselves identify those responsible in a short time - continues the post by de Leonardis -. I am surprised that my competitor has not released any statement of condemnation on a very serious event that occurred in the center of the city - of which he is still mayor until tomorrow - and that only by a miracle did not cause victims".

“I read that a candidate of the Center-Right Coalition had a gun pointed at him. My solidarity as a citizen goes out to him, even though the police have informed me that the incident occurred several hundred meters away from the election rally, so personally and with the support of the Carabinieri that I spoke to, I am certain that there is no correlation between the two. As Mayor in office, I must say that our city has been far from these incidents for years now. We are an anti-Camorra city and the administration has demonstrated this with concrete facts by taking away a Camorrista's house, which today is a shelter for women in difficulty thanks to Don Francesco of the Parish of SS. Maria Immacolata. We have constituted ourselves as a civil party in all the trials to the detriment of this city and also to the women victims of abuse. In light of what happened last night, I must say that I am very worried even to hypothesize the return of these incidents in this particular historical moment”. Thus in a note Ludovico De Luca, mayor of Qualiano, regarding a shooting that occurred yesterday evening during an electoral rally of the center-right competitor Raffaele De Leonardis.
