The Provincial Police Command of Salerno together with the Environmental Guards of the Provincial Nucleus Accademia Kros have seized a furnace on the outskirts of Sarno. The owner was carrying out the activity of producing charcoal without adopting any useful precaution to retain the polluting substances deriving from the combustion of the pomace used to fuel the furnace. Following checks on the documentation, the same was found to be without any useful document to be able to demonstrate the correct disposal of waste and in particular of the ashes and other types of waste produced by the processing cycle. The combustion residues were not removed but remained inside the furnace contributing to the accumulation of waste that during combustion releases carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur into the air that are harmful to health. The personnel operating at the end of the activity seized the structure located in the Foce area and reported the man for illegal disposal of waste, emissions of fumes into the atmosphere without authorization and other environmental violations.
