The Vatican Promoter of Justice has requested a five-year and nine-month prison sentence and a €10,000 fine for former Vatican diplomat Msgr. Carlo Alberto Capella, accused of possession, distribution, and transmission of child pornography. The Vatican Tribunal is currently sitting in chambers. The judges' decision is expected shortly.
Monsignor Capella admits the accusations but in the final statements of the lightning trial in the Vatican asks for understanding: "I hope that this situation can be considered an accident in my priestly life that I love even more". The trial that began yesterday will end today: the judges' sentence is in fact expected shortly.
