Fugitive 'Ndrangheta boss Rocco Parrello was posing as a deckhand for a spadara fishing boat in the Tyrrhenian Sea. He had an arrest warrant pending for mafia-related conspiracy. The boss was captured in the port of Marina di Camerota after a lengthy tailing between the Calabrian and Cilento coasts. Rocco Parrello, 50, a member of a well-known clan from Vibo Valentia, was aboard a fishing boat that had been docked in the Cilento town for two days. The Bagnara Calabra military had been keeping him under surveillance and, at just the right moment, swung into action, along with colleagues from Commander Carelli of the local Carabinieri Company and Coast Guard officers. After the search, Parrello was arrested and held in the Vallo della Lucania prison pending further orders from the Reggio Calabria Court, which issued an arrest warrant as part of a complex judicial investigation against the Calabrian clan to which Parrello is believed to belong. Parrello is believed to be among the leaders of the clan spreading panic between Villa San Giovanni and Bagnara. He faces serious charges of illicit drug trafficking, attempted murder, violence, and threats.
It is not the first time that the adventures of wanted men or fugitives end up in the Cilento town.
