The Pact for the Implementation of Urban Security was signed in the Prefecture.
After having approved - on the proposal of the councilors Luigi Ammendola (Public Works) and Sofia Donnarumma (Security) - the council resolution relating to the project drawn up by the Municipal Technical Office, concerning the expansion of the video surveillance platform to combat widespread crime and predatory crimes, on Friday 22 June, the mayor of Torre Annunziata Vincenzo Ascione signed the Security Pact in the Prefecture with the representative of the Ministry of the Interior in Naples, prefect Carmela Pagano.
The Municipality, which has requested ministerial funding of approximately 700 thousand euros (695.529,26 to be precise), intends to strengthen the actions of prevention and contrast to the forms of illegality present in the city territory.
The project for the expansion of the urban video surveillance system, which will consist of 85 new stations equipped with latest-generation technologies, will extend to the city's at-risk neighborhoods (Palazzine dei “Poverelli”, rione “Penniniello”, quartiere “Provolera”, quadrilatero delle “Carceri”) and, in addition, includes the installation of electronic eyes near the city schools, the archaeological excavations of via Sepolcri, as well as expanding areas, such as the Rovigliano neighborhood and the port area. The territorial monitoring center connected to the Police Force will also be strengthened.
"It is essential in a territory like ours - explains Mayor Ascione - to continue to strengthen all the infrastructure related to security. Following the exceptional contrast that all the forces of law and order have been able to produce against organized crime, now their task must be facilitated by equipping all the areas at risk of our city with valid technological support. The aid of video surveillance - concludes the mayor - will be useful not only to identify those responsible for episodes of widespread crime, but also those who are guilty of crimes against the environment and the city's heritage that, even today, in some areas of the territory, are perpetrated".
