A gunshot fired to the heart.
Thus died on July 15, 1998, Pasquale Menale, a 17-year-old from Teverola, in the Caserta area, killed while riding a scooter. The boy, a student at the Aversa Technical Institute and a soccer player, the son of respectable parents, died instantly. The murder, which was closed without any results, has never been clarified. His father, Giuseppe Menale, for the first time in 20 years, has made an appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything. He specifically appealed to the boy who was with Pasquale on the night of the murder. "After so many years, we still don't know what happened. There's a question mark on our son's grave, and today we're calling for the investigation to be reopened, appealing to people's consciences. Anyone who saw or knows anything should come forward. Those were difficult times, and our territories were uncontrolled; it's understandable that those who remained silent were afraid. We especially appeal to Pasquale's friend, whom we haven't seen since that terrible evening, to try to remember what happened. We ask him for help so our son can get justice," he says. Alongside Giuseppe, in addition to the mayor of Teverola, Dario Di Matteo, is Antonio Lombardi, president of the ASD ACLI Seidokan, the sports association that has never forgotten Pasquale, and who immediately named a memorial after him, "A Kick to Indifference." This traveling initiative, sponsored by the Region and the municipalities of Teverola and Cicciano, where the association is based, is also present.
