On Sunday 24 June, the Gazzetta Dream Cup will land in Pomigliano d'Arco (FCS Cityground), the tournament organised by La Gazzetta dello Sport in collaboration with the Lega Nazionale Calcio Amatoriale (LNCA) and Umbro, to identify the team that will wear the national colours and represent us at the Amateur Five-A-Side Football World Cup in Shanghai in September, playing against teams from all over the world.
A national qualification phase is currently underway, consisting of marathons lasting several hours, in 32 Italian cities, including Pomigliano.
Umbro, the historic British brand, will be the technical sponsor that will support Gazzetta Dream Cup aiming to involve the real protagonists of the world of football. That football that is played on the streets, in sports centers, democratic and real, like the values of Umbro, which will provide balls and merchandising and will dress the 32 teams that will have deserved the final with uniforms inspired by the colors of the Russia 2018 national teams.
A winning team will emerge from each stage: the teams qualified for the national final will therefore be 32, as in the World Cup in Russia. The Gazzetta Dream Cup final will be played on July 14 in Rimini and will involve the 32 teams and their 320 players in 12 hours of play, with matches divided into 8 groups on 2 five-a-side football pitches.
During the event, engaging activities will also be organized for the public. Up for grabs throughout the tournament, in addition to the final in Shanghai, are prizes offered by Umbro, the oldest brand in the world of football, founded in England in 1924 by the Humphreys brothers, who returned to Italy with the aim of climbing onto the podium of national sportswear brands, but above all to become the brand of the heart for those who play street football, for those who believe that football is still an authentic, playful sport for everyone.
