In the shadow of Vesuvius, Forgat Onlus gives life to “Music for young orchestras/Conservatorio Popolare”, an art and social inclusion project with free participation, conceived, promoted and produced by Forgat Onlus and realized by the Association “Il Canto di Virgilio” at the Domus Ars, a cultural center.
“Overcoming economic, social and disability-related hardship through excellent and professional training opportunities is the Association’s mission,” explains Giuseppe Cafarella, president of Forgat Onlus. “After the positive experience, in recent years, of the initiative for social inclusion and high-level theatrical training with the Scuola Elementare del Teatro, directed by director Davide Iodice, we have decided to focus on a new project where music is the protagonist. Young people with economic or social hardship or with physical or intellectual disabilities will be able to attend this Conservatory for free, but it is important to underline how Forgat also places contamination with work environments at the center of the project to promote professional opportunities. For us, raising awareness of the culture of sharing and solidarity through the transferability of the opportunities received is fundamental.”
On September 1, 2018, the call for participation open to musicians, student musicians and choristers aged between 18 and 35 with economic or other hardship will be published on the website www.forgatonlus.org. The first cycle of the project, which will last 3 years, will be developed from October 2018 to June 2019 with the specific aim of creating a free high-level musical education school, giving life to a true Popular Conservatory. Artistic directors, orchestra conductors, musicians, choristers and workers of high and recognized profile will follow the chosen candidates in the laboratory path in the heart of the historic center of Naples, at the Domus Ars in particular, the composer and musician Carlo Faiello and the musician Enzo Amato.
