Former footballer Giovanni Pompei has died at the age of 37. A very strong player, he had worn the jerseys of Ascoli and Sambenedettese as well as that of Bologna, with whom he had made his debut in the UEFA Cup at a very young age.
Due to some injuries he had ended his career prematurely, failing to obtain the football stages that he certainly deserved.
For almost three years he had discovered that he had a disease against which he had always fought with optimism, thanks to the constant support of many friends. In the last few days his conditions had worsened and today, unfortunately, he died in hospital.
