Starting July 18, 2018, "Night of the Lampare" is an event that will liven up the Amalfi Coast every Wednesday throughout the summer. The protagonists and organizers of the event are the fishermen and fishing cooperatives of the Confcooperative FedAgriPesca Campania network. Every Wednesday, starting July 18, starting at 8:00 PM, from the main towns along the coast and from Salerno, it will be possible to board the fishermen's characteristic fishing boats (gozzi) to reach the lampare fishing boats, which will become increasingly shimmering as the sun sets. Once you reach the lampare, positioned in the marine area between Amalfi and Positano, you will witness the purse seine fishing. The catch will be brought to the beach of Conca dei Marini, where restaurateurs will offer a tasting of the freshest fish accompanied by Neapolitan folk music.
"The night of the lampare is an initiative we care a lot about. We aim to enhance the local tourist offer, giving relief to a sector, that of small-scale artisanal fishing, in serious difficulty. Furthermore, we want to raise awareness among consumers, orienting them towards the consumption of blue fish, one of the key products of the Mediterranean diet" explains Maurizio Giordano, Fisheries Area Coordinator for Confcooperative FedAgriPesca Campania.
