Street furniture in Vomero, to some a lot and to some nothing: 7 benches on a 30-meter sidewalk

"Who decides the distribution methods and the placement of street furniture in the streets and squares of the hilly municipality?" This is the question posed by Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari, who has been following the events, among others, related to the mysterious disappearance of some benches and several waste bins in Vomero for some time.
"In the last few days - Capodanno emphasizes - the pavement of a fifteen-meter-long stretch of one of the sidewalks in Piazza degli Artisti, located in front of an ice cream shop, has been redone, a fairly rare occurrence, given the poor road maintenance that afflicts the populous neighborhood, with numerous potholes and depressions that increase day by day without intervention always being made with diligence and consistency. Once the resurfacing work was completed, three benches were placed on the edge of the same stretch of sidewalk, which were added to the four already present on the remaining stretch, located in front of another ice cream shop and a pastry shop."
"The final result was that on a sidewalk of about 30 meters in length there are currently seven benches in total," Capodanno points out. "An average of one bench every four meters or so."
"This is quite different from what is recorded, for example, in the pedestrianized sections of via Luca Giordano and via Scarlatti, where the benches are placed much more frequently than those highlighted for the aforementioned pavement in piazza degli Artisti, whereas, since these are pedestrian areas, there should be many more benches."
"But that's not all," Capodanno adds. "In recent months, I have highlighted the disappearance of several benches from both Via Scarlatti and Via Luca Giordano. Most of them, like the one that was present in Via Scarlatti, at number 130, as can be seen from the traces still present on the pavement, have never been restored."
Therefore - Capodanno concludes -, in light of the above, in terms of street furniture, within the hilly municipality it would seem that double standards are used, with roads the paving is resurfaced and additional street furniture is also placed, even in an oversized manner compared to the average, whereas for other arteries the same operating method is not proceeded with, even by providing them with equivalent street furniture, even through the restoration of the pre-existing one".
Capodanno requests that the competent offices take appropriate initiatives to provide the necessary clarifications on the matter, publicising the findings in the ways provided for, also in application of the principle of transparency of administrative action.
