Avellino man missing for a week saved by police as he was about to jump off a bridge in Rome

He was rescued by police as he was about to jump from the Vittorio Emanuele Bridge in Rome. He is a 44-year-old man originally from Avellino who disappeared on July 1st. According to initial reconstructions, the man was standing on the wall of the bridge over the Tiber River with his arms outstretched, ready to jump. The officers began talking to him, trying to calm him down, and got close enough to grab him and bring him back to the street. The 44-year-old man was later identified thanks to a missing person report filed by his brother on July 1st and was taken to the hospital, where his family joined him.
