A decidedly alternative event is being organized by the Pro Loco of Santa Maria la Carità on the occasion of the highly anticipated "Palio del Ciuccio," a historic event in July in San Marino: "Donkeys All About Beer," a festival dedicated to hop lovers held concurrently with the Torneo delle Contrade (Contrade Tournament). From July 6th to 8th, after the competition between the districts, it will be possible to taste various types of beer—from craft beers to those labeled by international brands—paired, of course, with a wide variety of food options (especially local specialties). The evenings will be enlivened by performances by renowned artists, such as a live performance by singer Gnut and a show by musician and poet Francesco Di Bella.
Beer is the oldest fermented beverage drunk by man and, thanks to its important nutritional properties, it is one of the most popular and sipped beverages in the world. It is in fact defined as "liquid bread" because the starting ingredients are the same as bread and because, having less ethanol than other alcoholic beverages and being less caloric, it is considered a real food.
The event “Donkeys all Beer” will be inaugurated with a gastronomic competition during which the contradaiole will challenge each other in a competition with ladles. On the morning of Sunday 8 July, the last day of the event, the moment “Breakfast with the Donkeys” will take place during which the little ones will be involved in recreational activities. The whole thing will culminate in the evening (at 21 pm) with the Palio, preceded by the sumptuous medieval historical parade.
Other events of July Sammaritano are the “Sagra della Melanzana” from 20 to 23 July and the talent show “The Dreamers”, which will take place on Sunday 29 July, an event dedicated to young emerging talents.
