Capri. Illegal garage on a Capri street: Costanzo Cerrotta, president of Capri Servizi, a wholly owned municipal company that handles waste collection in the Capri area, has been reported at large. Cerrotta was reported to the Capri Carabinieri for installing an anodized aluminum structure under a narrow street adjacent to the ancient gate that leads to the town. Officers from the Capri station acted following numerous reports received from residents of Capri and vacationers who own second homes. A patrol went to the site to inspect the site and confirmed that there was indeed a white aluminum garage that had been recently installed. During the investigation, officers learned that Capri Servizi had ordered the structure's placement after requesting authorization from the mayor. According to investigators, this authorization could not be granted since "the use of anodized aluminum is prohibited throughout the entire Capri area, and therefore the project could never have received any authorization from the relevant commissions." Hence, the judicial authorities filed a complaint, following yesterday's inspection, against the president of the municipal company for usurping public functions "because he was responsible for the crimes of illegal building in a public space." For this reason, the military has referred him to the competent authorities, with a notice of house arrest and the appointment of a lawyer. The investigation continues to determine any criminal liability, especially since the technical reports issued by the offices do not indicate that a building permit was issued.
