“Vincenzo Birra's killer was Antonio Bellfiore, known as Pulliciello, on the orders of Giuseppe and Salvatore Mele. The murder was committed because Vincenzo Birra was telling people that he had committed the murder of Fosco Di Fusco together with Antonio Bellofiore. I learned this from Salvatore Romano and Vincenzo Mele, but in any case it was already being said around.

The dynamics were not told to me, but I know that the event occurred in via Sartori. I only know that Giuseppe Mele had Birra arrive at the place where Antonio Pulliciello was and where the body was later found”.

Pasquale Esposito junior is speaking. He is the new repentant of the Pianura clans.

He is the one who revealed the roles, strategies, business, and murders committed by the Mele clan (relatives and secessionists of the Pesce-Marfella). Pasquale Esposito junior was arrested two years ago together with the ras Vincenzo Romano known as muoll muollo, regent of the Mele clan at the time, and two others while they were preparing an ambush.

It was the period immediately following the maxi blitz against the Pianura clans. Then in rapid succession the boss Pasquale Pesce e' bianchina, Raffaele Dello Iacolo known as toc toc, Vincenzo Romano muoll muollo and Antonio Vanacore repented. Since the end of last year, as anticipated by the newspaper Il Roma, Pasquale Esposito junior has also begun to collaborate with justice.

He specified, however, that he did not participate in the murder of Vincenzo Birra. His role in the clan, however, was to prepare the fire actions from an organizational point of view. “Giuseppe Mele, is the head of our organization together with his brothers Salvatore and Vincenzo. I have never met him outside of prison and we have never been detained together.

Vincenzo Mele introduced him to me and told him my name. I saw him (referring to Giuseppe, ed.) in the court of Naples on several occasions during the hearings for the trials he had.

On such occasions, Vincenzo Mele, Salvatore Romano and I were always present. The clan's decisions, however, were always taken together by the brothers Giuseppe and Salvatore Mele".

Vincenzo Birra was killed on July 14, 2013 and according to the anti-mafia prosecutor's office (with whom the investigating judge of the Naples court agreed), 5 people participated in the crime: the 2 Mele brothers as instigators and organizers, Giuseppe also present at the time of the execution; Antonio Bellofiore as the material executor; Raffaele Dello Iacolo known as "Lelluccio toc toc" providing the Camorra members with the gun; Luigi Aversano known as "o' musichiere" (killed the following month in the war between the Mele and the Pesce) as the one who led the unaware victim to the place of the ambush with an excuse. Vincenzo Birra thus fell into a trap and only realized it when he saw Antonio Bellofiore, who until a moment before he considered a friend like all the others, pointing the gun at him.

Caught by surprise, he did not even have time to attempt an escape and remained lifeless on the ground. A few days earlier he had also confided to some relatives that he had taken part in the ambush on Fosco Di Fusco.
