There are 400 confiscated properties in Naples and the province still waiting to be reused, and another 350 ready to be returned to the community for social purposes. These properties belonged to organized crime bosses and have been confiscated, such as a residential complex in Marano, confiscated from the Puca family, or an apartment in Melito belonging to the Amato-Pagano clan, complete with a swimming pool and garden. This morning, the Prefecture in Naples reviewed the status of the properties that will be handed over to citizens in the coming months. "Our task is to return wealth to the community, and we are satisfied because today the formal expressions of interest have exceeded 68% of the assets made available. If we add those that have not yet arrived but have already been passed on to the respective municipal councils, the figure exceeds 80%," explains Prefect Franca Guessarian, deputy director of ANBSC, the national agency for confiscated assets, which this morning collected expressions of interest for the assets made available by the Agency. "There are assets that always have great difficulty in being managed and assigned, and it's a problem due to the costs that municipalities also have to face," she continues, "but the funds available for renovations are available." In Naples, 36 confiscated assets have been made available, 90 in Melito, 34 in Casoria, 51 in Sant'Antimo, and 24 in Torre Annunziata. "It takes a long time, but confiscations require a lengthy judicial process to protect citizens and ensure they never return to the Camorra's control," the prefect concludes.
