The Regional Council of Campania approved yesterday, Tuesday 10 July, unanimously, with 36 votes in favour, the Unified Text: “Provisions for social inclusion, the removal of barriers to communication, the recognition and promotion of Italian sign language and tactile Italian sign language.

The text approved yesterday promotes the recognition, diffusion, acquisition and use of the Italian sign language (Lis) and the Italian tactile sign language (Lis tattile).
Among the highlights of the law text, the regional interventions to promote the diffusion of LIS and tactile LIS in the activities of communication and institutional information and in access to the media, in access to knowledge of the historical, artistic, cultural regional heritage, to tourism and cultural, recreational, sporting events, the training activities for deaf, deaf-blind or hearing-impaired children in general to experiment with speech therapy and prosthetic interventions for early oral linguistic qualification in learning LIS and tactile LIS; the support actions for students with hearing disabilities in the context of collaboration with the Regional School Office and with the Universities; the definition of the periodic program of activities by the Regional Council; interventions for work inclusion.
