Casavatore. Sunday afternoon, just when the “ballad” of the lilies was scheduled, a group of minors carried the “little lily” through the city streets. The event, which is held either on the first or second Sunday of July, had been banned for the second year by the Prefect’s delegates due to the strong infiltration of organized crime. The event was banned last year by the prefectural commissioners, suspended a few years earlier by the police due to problems related to donations, considered by the DDA to be real and true extortion under the radar, and blocked again for this year. Despite the bans, the baby cradlers carried the wooden structure on their shoulders through the city streets, also causing problems for traffic. The parade gradually gathered many people who also sang offensive chants against the commissioners. Confirming that this is a real challenge between citizens and institutions is the fact that the little lily was abandoned right in front of the Town Hall. The installation was removed only yesterday morning with the intervention of the Carabinieri who started an investigation into the case.
