Living longer is possible, even in the Land of Fires, with a careful diet and a correct lifestyle. The results of a research carried out in the territory were presented by the National Order of Biologists, which brought together two hundred of its members in the conference room of the Borgorosa Farmhouse. The president of the ONB, Vincenzo D'Anna, opened the proceedings by stating that "intoxication from heavy metals can be tackled with the use of products from this land, such as native wheat, rich in selenium, which deactivates toxic substances such as mercury and causes them to be expelled through the feces, reducing the risk of inflammation".

“Land of Fires. The Starting Line”, this is the title of the initiative that saw the participation, as speakers, of researchers committed to finding a connection between nutrition and the detoxification of the human body from heavy metals, widespread in polluted territories. “The Land of Fires – said Andrea Del Buono, medical researcher – must become the land of redemption. To detoxify from heavy metals there is no magic ingredient, but a correct lifestyle is necessary, also in relation to nutrition. We must get used to knowing how to use food correctly every day”.

“Toxic substances, such as dioxin, act on human genes and cause uncontrolled cellular transformations, which lead to pathologies and premature aging,” said virologist Giulio Tarro, a former Nobel Prize candidate. But by choosing foods correctly, it is possible to prevent and purify oneself. “The detox diet,” explained biologist Armando D'Orta, “consists of an oncostabilizing and immunoprotective system. In practice, foods with low growth factors and a prevalence of vegetable proteins, truly ancient Mediterranean grains and sprouts are used. The importance of using fruit and vegetable extracts to prepare a product rich in phytocomplexes (vitamins), minerals and plant stem cells (sprouts) at home is also highlighted. A true elixir of long life. So much so that the positive effects of this diet have been verified through hair analysis on a sample of centenarians involved in our research. Evidently we must not lose the heritage of our food tradition.”
