Schiavone was in a car with a friend when yesterday morning he heard a woman screaming for help after being mugged. Meanwhile, several swimmers from the nearby beaches had rushed over and blocked the mugger's accomplice from reversing. The driver accelerated, hitting Schiavone, while his accomplice fled on foot.
