Rosarno. An operation by the Carabinieri of the Reggio Calabria Provincial Command, coordinated by the Reggio Calabria Anti-Mafia Directorate, is underway to execute an arrest warrant against 38 individuals accused, on various counts, of mafia association, conspiracy to engage in international drug trafficking, attempted murder, extortion, possession and possession of weapons, criminal damage, and other offenses.
According to investigators, two dangerous gangs of the 'ndrangheta of Rosarno have been dismantled, both dedicated to extortion and the importation of quintals of pure cocaine from South America and hashish from Spain and Morocco, destined for drug dealing centers in Lombardy, Piedmont and Sicily.
The investigations also revealed the violent opposition between the two groups, both intent on imposing themselves on the criminal scene of Rosarno and acquiring mafia control of the territory through intimidation, damage and ambushes with firearms and explosives.
